The legacy of the Conde family traces back to Domingo Esteso, who founded the dynasty in Madrid in 1915.
Following his passing in 1937, his nephews—Mariano Conde Sr., Faustino Conde, and Julio Conde—continued the workshop under the name Viuda y Sobrinos de Esteso until 1960, preserving the master’s traditions and craftsmanship.
During the early 1950s, Julio Conde established his own workshop at Calle Atocha 53.
Meanwhile, Mariano Conde Sr. and Faustino Conde carried on at Esteso’s original workshop, later adopting the renowned name Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso Conde Hermanos.
After working together for years on the street Gravina 7, Mariano Conde decided to leave his brother Faustino and open his own atelier at Calle Felipe V, 2, where his sons, Felipe and Mariano Jr., began their training at the age of fifteen, continuing the family tradition into the next generation.
