Italian luthier Daniele Chiesa was born in Bergamo, Italy, in 1973. He began playing classical guitar and jazz guitar at the age of twelve. In 1994 he learned violin making at the Violin Building School in Cremona and graduated in 1998. Shortly after, he went to California, where he worked in Kenny Hill’s workshop for a year. After that, he returned to Italy to work with the guitar maker Paolo Viscardi.

However, he was later drawn back to California, where he worked with Tom Ribbecke. Finally, in 2002, Daniele moved to Spain to participate in a workshop with Francisco Santiago Marin. This experience was so profound for him that he decided to move to Granada to open his workshop and, simultaneously, have the opportunity to learn from such master luthiers as Paco Santiago Marin, Antonio Marin, José Plazuelo, and Rolf Eichinger.

The 2024 Daniele Chiesa guitar emerges as a lustrous gem in the world of lutherie, blending unparalleled craftsmanship with innovative design. As the third installment in Daniele’s exploration of double-top construction with a Nomex core, this guitar stands as a testament to his dedication and skill.

This instrument not only represents a bridge between the cherished Spanish guitar-making tradition and contemporary innovations but also introduces a unique aesthetic through its specially designed rosette.

The DNA spiral, exclusive to this project, symbolizes the depth of Daniele’s journey and commitment to this endeavor, which has consumed half of his lifetime. This rosette, with its contemporary flair, manages to encapsulate the soul of traditional Spanish craftsmanship, making the guitar not just a musical instrument but a piece of art.

Acoustically, the guitar exceeds expectations, setting a new benchmark for contemporary guitars. It retains the vibrant trebles and robust timbre characteristic of Spanish guitars, while its playability and volume elevate it to the forefront of modern lutherie.

The thoughtful design extends to the guitar’s playability, facilitated by a comfortable neck and the inclusion of an elevated fingerboard, which grants musicians effortless access to higher frets. This guitar is a marvel of engineering and design, embodying a seamless fusion of tradition and innovation, making it an exceptionally easy instrument to play.

Its creation marks a significant milestone in guitar making, offering players a rare blend of aesthetic beauty, historical reverence, and cutting-edge performance.
