A Remarkable Córdoba Blanca Built with Historic Tonewoods

There are flamenco guitars that are excellent instruments — and then there are guitars that carry a sense of history within them.

This exceptional 2026 Graciliano Pérez Flamenca Blanca is one of those instruments.

Built in Córdoba, Spain, this guitar combines the unmistakable character of the Córdoba flamenco tradition with something truly extraordinary: rare, old-stock tonewoods originating from the late Miguel Rodríguez workshop. Graciliano Pérez was a close friend of Miguel Rodríguez, and his guitars have long been deeply influenced by Rodríguez’s approach to sound, response and playability.

The result here is captivating. This Blanca delivers remarkable depth, powerful projection and impressive sustain, with deep, authoritative basses and trebles that have the clarity and piercing brilliance that flamenco players look for. Despite its power, it remains exceptionally comfortable and easy to play.

The combination of these historic woods and Graciliano Pérez’s highly refined Córdoba craftsmanship gives this instrument a voice with an unmistakably old-world flamenco character — immediate, expressive, colourful and alive.

The Guitar

This is a Blanca with a particularly compelling combination of immediacy and depth.

The voice has the traditional character one hopes to find in a great Córdoba flamenca: a quick and responsive attack, powerful low frequencies, brilliant trebles and excellent projection. Yet there is also a richness and dimensionality that gives the notes considerable substance and sustain.

The historic tonewoods are a major part of what makes this particular instrument so interesting. The German spruce soundboard dates from 1970, while the cypress dates from 1975 — woods that have had decades to mature before becoming part of this guitar.

Rather than producing a merely bright or aggressive flamenco sound, this Blanca offers a more sophisticated palette, with enough depth and colour to make the instrument equally compelling for solo playing and demanding flamenco repertoire.

And perhaps most importantly, it is extremely easy to play. The combination of response, comfort and low-effort execution makes this the type of instrument that encourages the player to push further musically.

A beautiful, captivating Córdoba voice.

Graciliano Pérez — The Córdoba Tradition

Graciliano Pérez Carrizosa is one of the respected names of the modern Córdoba guitar-making tradition. His relationship with Miguel Rodríguez began at an early age, when Graciliano lived close to Rodríguez’s workshop and became fascinated by guitar construction and the instruments being made there. He later studied at the Córdoba Conservatory and continued to examine and study the work of the Rodríguez family in great depth.

Today, Graciliano and his brother José continue their work in Córdoba, where their guitars are built with a strongly traditional philosophy while incorporating the experience gained through decades of making instruments for demanding players. Their own workshop describes a goal of combining sound, comfort and appearance, with particular attention to achieving a distinctive flamenco character in their cypress guitars.

Graciliano’s cypress flamencas are particularly associated with the Córdoba sound — powerful yet balanced, with strong basses, brilliant trebles and abundant projection. His own model description specifically identifies the influence of Miguel Rodríguez and the desire to recreate the volume, harmonics and balance associated with the great Córdoba instruments of the 1960s and 1970s.

That connection makes this particular 2026 Blanca especially fascinating: it brings together Graciliano Pérez’s mature craftsmanship with historic tonewoods connected to the Miguel Rodríguez tradition.
