About the De Cascia Gabrielle Cedar

The cedar Gabrielle is a wonderful example of the philosophy behind the De Cascia line: to create well-built, genuinely musical instruments that allow students and serious players to experience qualities traditionally associated with much more expensive guitars.

The Canadian cedar soundboard gives this version of the Gabrielle its own distinct personality. Compared with spruce, cedar is often chosen for its naturally warm and immediate response, allowing the instrument to produce a satisfying musical voice with relatively little effort from the player. This makes it particularly rewarding for guitarists who appreciate a responsive instrument that feels alive under the fingers.

The all-solid Indian rosewood body complements the cedar beautifully, bringing depth and richness to the overall sound while contributing to the instrument’s projection and sustain. The result is a balanced and expressive classical-guitar voice that can be both intimate and substantial.

The Gabrielle has also received particularly enthusiastic praise from experienced players. One owner of the cedar model was surprised to discover a highly refined and superbly balanced concert-guitar character at this price level, and noted that the instrument continued to develop beautifully with playing.

That kind of response speaks to what makes the Gabrielle so appealing. It is not simply an inexpensive guitar intended to serve as a temporary student instrument. The philosophy behind De Cascia has always been to give developing and serious players access to good tone, projection and playability without the prohibitive cost of many hand-built luthier instruments.

For the player who values warmth, musicality and an easy, natural response, the cedar Gabrielle is particularly compelling. It is the sort of instrument that can encourage more playing simply because it feels good in the hands and gives back so readily.

A beautifully crafted, warm and responsive classical guitar with the musical depth to grow with its player — the Gabrielle Cedar is an exceptional value and a guitar that deserves to be experienced.
