Évocation ” The spanish guitar between two centuries”
by classical guitarist Renaud Charbonneau Ryffranck
A Montreal classical guitar virtuoso, Renaud is renowned for his captivatingly elegant and unparalleled depth of playing. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in classical guitar performance from the Université de Montréal, where he studied under Peter McCutcheon.
“He is an extremely expressive player, highlighted by a strong technique and a warm, full tone. His graduating recital was one of the best I have heard at this level. He always showed great enthusiasm, constantly receptive to ideas and ways to improve himself. He is a sensitive and dedicated person, possessing a high degree of tactile facility and an innate ability to understand his instrument.” —Peter McCutcheon
Continuing his development, he earned a Master’s degree in Music from the same institution under the supervision of André Rodrigues, a distinction he received with an honorable mention.
“When he began his master’s degree in my class at the Université de Montréal, I could see that he was now a mature musician, mastering a vast repertoire spanning several periods and styles, in addition to possessing excellent instrumental technique.” —André Rodrigues
Seeking to perfect his craft, Renaud flew to Spain, where he completed a second master’s degree in the prestigious study program in Alicante. There, he benefited from the teaching of great names in classical guitar, including Ignacio Rodes, David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Fabio Zanon, Paul O’Dette, Xavier Díaz Latorre, and the Brazil Guitar Duo.
