The AP-79-P
The AP-79-P reflects Oscar Muñoz’s commitment to combining the traditions of Granada guitar making with carefully considered construction and a refined aesthetic.
Its European spruce soundboard and Madagascar rosewood body provide an expressive tonal combination, producing a voice characterized by warm and woody basses, rounded and singing trebles, excellent projection and a beautifully balanced response.
The 7-fan bracing, lightweight 1.5 kg construction and carefully selected tonewoods contribute to an instrument that feels immediate and responsive beneath the fingers. The result is a guitar capable of delivering both subtle musical nuances and the projection required in a concert setting.
Visually, the instrument is equally compelling. The hand-made rosette, created according to the Taracea traditions of Granada, adds a distinctive artistic element, while the Madagascar rosewood bridge and headstock veneer and Snakewood tuner knobs complete its elegant appearance.
The completely hand-rubbed French polish finish further enhances the natural beauty of the woods while preserving the refined, traditional character of the instrument.
Oscar Muñoz — Granada, Spain
Before becoming a guitar maker, Oscar Muñoz spent 20 years working in cabinetmaking and carpentry, giving him a strong foundation in woodworking and craftsmanship.
He began building guitars professionally in 2013, after studying guitar construction with Stephen Hill and Pablo Requena. During his development as a luthier, he also established close relationships with a group of young Granada makers and players, including Sergio Valverde, Federico Udini, Javier Moreno and Sixto Moreno.
Oscar also received important early advice and support from the Bellido family, contributing to his development as a guitar maker.
His dedication was recognized in October 2017, when he was awarded second prize at the prestigious Antonio Marín Montero Guitar Making Competition in Granada.
The AP-79-P is an excellent representation of his work: traditional in spirit, refined in execution and unmistakably connected to the rich guitar-making heritage of Granada.
A beautiful concert instrument for the discerning guitarist — expressive, responsive and full of character.
