This 2025 guitar by Jeremy Cooper represents the current pinnacle of his celebrated double-top work and stands as a compelling example of why his instruments have become so highly regarded among today’s concert players. With more than two decades of luthiery and over a decade devoted to refining his balsa-core double-top design, Cooper has developed a voice that balances power, color, and extraordinary responsiveness.
No. 124 features a balsa-core double-top with a Western Red Cedar outer soundboard and Spruce inner layer, yielding a luminous, richly textured tone that responds effortlessly to the lightest touch. Ebony back and sides add depth and authority while preserving a smooth, rounded treble, resulting in a voice that feels both expansive and refined.
The sound is thick, resonant, and deeply engaging, with excellent sustain and a beautifully balanced response across the registers. Unlike many double-tops, this guitar retains warmth and sweetness alongside its projection, offering a rich midrange and singing upper register that invite nuanced phrasing and dynamic control.
A mahogany neck with an elevated African Ebony fingerboard—based on the design Cooper used for the Assad brothers—enhances projection and sustain while maintaining a comfortable, elegant feel in the left hand. Finished with Scheller tuners, a V-jointed headstock, and Cooper’s meticulous attention to detail throughout, this 2025 example embodies the strength, refinement, and musical depth that discerning players seek at The Grand Guitar Salon.
