There are number of features of the construction of this guitar which are somewhat unique to Bull guitars
Firstly, the neck is detachable, fixed into the neck block/cradle with socket head screws, this system has advantages in construction & also in long-term maintenance. It also provides a very rigid neck/body joint with a lot of support under the upper fretboard which improves performance through improved sustain
The guitar is fitted with a sound port which gives the player a more complete idea of the forward sound of the guitar somewhat like a small foldback speaker. The port is fitted with a tornavoz to lower the air cavity resonant frequency & increase lower range support.
The scale is compensated individually on each string at the nut for fretting stretch & at the saddle for travel stretch. This ensures accurate intonation at all points of the scale on all strings.
The finish is a combination of French polish base coats & pre-catalysed lacquer. satin lacquer is used on the soundboard and gloss on the remainder of the guitar. It is flexible but relatively hard & scratch resistant. However, it is effectively no harder than the substrate to which it is applied. The coating on the soundboard is quite thin to reduce wight & improve sound & should be treated with particular care.
