Yulong Guo — Tradition Meets Innovation
Yulong Guo has been building guitars since 1983, earning an international reputation for his innovative approach to modern classical guitar making, particularly his highly regarded double-top instruments.
The double-top concept was pioneered by German luthiers Matthias Dammann and Gernot Wagner in the late 1980s and early 1990s. By combining two exceptionally thin soundboard layers with a lightweight Nomex honeycomb inner core, this construction offers remarkable strength while reducing weight, enhancing responsiveness and projection.
Guo’s approach combines these modern developments with his own distinctive construction techniques, creating instruments known for their power, balance, clarity, and expressive range.
In 2018, he also introduced his traditionally constructed “Granada” model, which received second prize at the Antonio Marín Montero Guitar Building Competition in Granada, Spain.
