Born in Portugal, José Marques is one of those guitar makers who came into contact with wood and music from a very early age.
After a career as a carpenter, José apprenticed with local and renowned guitar maker Daniel Luz to learn the craft of musical instrument making, starting with the Portuguese guitar, the viola campaniça & finally to the classical guitar.
After spending time in the United Kingdom and acquiring skills in various workshops, he settled in Cortiçois, Portugal, to devote himself entirely to building fine classical guitars.
